About Us
A Citizen-Led Movement for a Fairer Family Court System in South Carolina
Who We Are
Palmetto Alliance for Family Court Reform is a citizen-led organization dedicated to bringing meaningful reform, transparency, and accountability to South Carolina's family court system.
We believe that children benefit from strong relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate, that families deserve fair and efficient court proceedings, and that the judicial system must be accountable to the people it serves.
Our Mission
Our immediate priority is passage of the Equal Parenting Act, which would establish a rebuttable presumption of approximately equal parenting time while preserving judicial discretion to protect children's best interests. The bill also increases accountability for Guardian ad Litems and strengthens penalties for provably false accusations made in family court.
Beyond equal parenting, we advocate for greater transparency, stronger oversight of guardians ad litem, reduced unnecessary litigation, and greater accountability throughout the family court system.
Through public education, grassroots organizing, legislative engagement, and public accountability initiatives, we seek to give ordinary South Carolinians a stronger voice in the policymaking process.
Our mission begins with equal parenting—but our vision is a family court system that puts children and families first.
Transparency. Accountability. Citizen Participation.
Meaningful family court reform requires an informed and engaged public. We believe South Carolina citizens deserve to know where their elected officials stand—and what actions they take. If you think you can contribute to our strategic priorities in any way, please contact us!
